Heating & Air Conditioning in Mountain View, CA

Upgrade Home Services repairs and installs heating, air conditioning and water heaters in Mountain View. Heat pumps matter most here: as of November 2026, the city's reach code calls for a heat pump when a single-family home replaces its air conditioner. SVCE supplies the city's electricity, and Mountain View adds its own money to SVCE's heat pump water heater rebate.

What can we help with in Mountain View?

Repairs, tune-ups and full replacements for every part of a home comfort system. Because of the city rule below, heat pumps deserve a close look before any AC replacement here. Explore the four hubs, or jump to the services most Mountain View homeowners need:

Do I have to install a heat pump when I replace my AC in Mountain View?

For most single-family homes, that is the direction of the current rules. Mountain View’s City Council approved local building code amendments on September 9, 2025. According to the city’s green building and reach code page, as of November 2026 they include:

  • AC-to-heat-pump replacement requirements for existing single-family homes, when an air conditioning unit is being replaced.
  • Electric-ready pre-wiring when a remodel or addition installs gas or propane equipment.

These rules apply to building permits submitted on or after January 1, 2026. A heat pump looks like an AC outside, but it also heats the home in winter. If your AC still works, nothing changes; repairs keep it going. When it is time to replace, we explain how the rule applies to your house and quote the options.

Which rebates help Mountain View homeowners?

Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE) is the electricity provider for Mountain View. Its home rebates page lists Mountain View among its communities and, as of November 2026, shows rebates for heat pump heating and cooling and for heat pump water heaters. The City of Mountain View funds an extra amount on the heat pump water heater rebate, paid through SVCE’s standard application, while the money lasts. You may qualify; call us and we’ll check which of these apply to your house.

How are permits handled in Mountain View?

Mountain View takes building permits online through ePermitsMV, which you can reach from the city’s apply for building permits page. The city also asks for a Mountain View Green Building Code worksheet with permit applications, based on the project type. We prepare the permit for your new system, meet the inspector and book any HERS testing, the independent check of a new system’s energy performance.

Have we worked near Mountain View?

Yes, in two neighboring cities. In nearby Los Altos we installed a new Goodman air conditioner and cleaned the furnace (Los Altos project). In nearby Sunnyvale we replaced an aging outdoor AC unit (Sunnyvale project). We don’t have a Mountain View project posted yet.

What do Mountain View homeowners ask us?

  • Will a heat pump keep my home cool in summer? Yes. It cools the same way an AC does, then runs in reverse for heat.
  • Can my electrical panel handle a heat pump? We check the panel during the free estimate and tell you if it needs work.
  • What if my home has no ducts? A ductless mini-split can heat and cool individual rooms. See our guide to ductless cooling.
